In the first quarter of 2013, CProgrès NGDO, the operational branch of Congo Progrès ONGD in Botswana initiated the Humanitarian Project aimed at mobilizing and availing humanitarian aid to those in need. The Humanitarian Committee was primarily set up to identify and implement projects aimed at providing relief where necessary and bringing change in the lives of the disadvantaged ones. This includes mobilizing aid for projects in Botswana and areas facing a huge humanitarian crisis like the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In Botswana, CProgrès NGDO has decided to focus for the time being on Kamogelo Day Centre and Naledi Education Centre as the beneficiaries of the Humanitarian Project. Due to the lack of experience, infrastructure and reliable partners for channeling aid, international projects were temporarily put on hold. The deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the call for urgent help has compelled Congo Progrès ONGD to participate in the effort to alleviate the suffering of many people in need. This has led to the creation of a platform to respond to the humanitarian crisis called TENK.
