Saturday March 16, 2013, close to 200 members of the Congolese Community in Botswana came to support Tout Puissant Mazembe against Mochudi Chiefs at the UB Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana. Some came more than 1000 Km away from Gaborone. These Congolese formed a united islet in a stadium filled to the brim. Their support was unique and extraordinary. Through the up and downs of T.P. Mazembe dressed in blue and white, their songs of encouragement resounded strong in the stadium. The blue, red and yellow flag floated in its entire splendor and all its beauty. What an explosion of joy and an expression of national pride when TP Mazembe scored 16 minutes before the end of the game! The Botswana team was not undeserving and all the supporters had an exemplary sportsmanship. Congolese demonstrated an exemplary support.
Mqondisi Dube (2013) of Mmegi Online reported in an article entitled “Mazembe's deadly concoction floors Chiefs ” that the colourful band of the supporters saw noise levels touch new heights at the UB Stadium. The fans, numbering just below a 100, out sang their Chiefs counterparts, who are the undisputed disciples of choral music. Towards the end of the match, the Chiefs fans followed the age-old adage that 'if you can't beat them, join them'. Even well after the 90 minutes, some Chiefs followers could be heard singing a tune, which ended with a catchy line 'Mazeeembe eehe'.
